Welcome
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Planning a wedding is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience, but with the right preparation, your big day will be everything you’ve dreamed of.
As your photographer, my goal is to capture every moment beautifully, and these tips will help ensure that your wedding photos are as stunning as your memories.
Photography is a way of capturing special moments and emotions, creating timeless memories that truly reflect the essence of your story.
Month Before Wedding
In the month leading up to your wedding, it's essential to finalize all the details with your photographer. This includes confirming the timeline, locations, and any specific shots you want to be captured. Consider scheduling an engagement shoot or a pre-wedding consultation to discuss your vision and preferences. This will help me understand your style and ensure that we’re both on the same page.
Timing
Timing is crucial when it comes to wedding photography. Allow enough time for each part of your day—getting ready, the ceremony, and portraits—without feeling rushed. A good rule of thumb is to allocate more time than you think you’ll need. This way, if anything runs late, you’ll still have time to relax and enjoy the moment without sacrificing your photo opportunities.
Choosing a Location
The location of your wedding and the spots you choose for your photos can greatly impact the final images. Consider places that have special meaning to you as a couple or that offer beautiful natural light and scenic backgrounds. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box—urban settings, lush gardens, or even a cozy indoor space can all make for stunning backdrops.
If It Rains
Rain on your wedding day is considered good luck, but it’s always wise to have a backup plan. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or photos, consider having an indoor location ready as an alternative. Don’t worry—some of the most beautiful wedding photos are taken in the rain, with umbrellas and moody skies adding a romantic touch to your images.
Getting Ready
The “getting ready” moments are some of the most intimate and emotional of the day. Make sure your getting-ready space is clean and clutter-free, with plenty of natural light if possible. Surround yourself with your closest friends and family, and take the time to enjoy this special part of the day. These moments are perfect for capturing candid, heartfelt photos.
The Wedding Day
On the wedding day, it’s important to relax and trust your vendors. You’ve done all the planning, and now it’s time to enjoy the day. I’ll be there to capture everything from the big moments to the small details, so focus on soaking in every second. If possible, try to carve out a few minutes alone with your partner after the ceremony for some quiet time and intimate photos.
Image Delivery
After your wedding, I’ll begin the process of editing and curating your images. This process takes time to ensure that every photo is perfect. You can expect to receive a sneak peek within a few days, with the full gallery delivered within 4-6 weeks. I take great care in delivering high-quality images that you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Additional Tips & Ideas
- Golden Hour: If possible, schedule some portraits during the “golden hour,” the hour before sunset when the light is soft and flattering.
- First Look: Consider a “first look” photo session before the ceremony. This private moment between you and your partner can result in some of the most emotional and beautiful photos of the day.
- Unplugged Ceremony: Encourage your guests to be fully present by having an unplugged ceremony, where they refrain from taking photos. This allows me to capture your moments without distractions, and your guests can enjoy the day without the need to document it themselves.
Family Photographs Checklist
Family photos are a key part of your wedding day, but they can be time-consuming if not well organized. To streamline the process, consider creating a checklist of the specific family groupings you’d like photographed. Share this list with me ahead of time, and designate a family member or friend who can help gather people quickly and efficiently on the day.
